NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Brewers Guild is hosting its 12th annual Newport Beer Festival on Saturday at Fort Adams State Park.

The festival will welcome nearly 50 breweries and several local food vendors for more than 1,500 guests to enjoy.

With Earth Day coming up, along with some of the breweries being located in Rhode Island, those who run the event are asking brewers to use some of the local resources.

“We asked each brewery to bring something that was kind of unique and eco-conscious, being that their beer may be made with locally sourced ingredients,” R.I. Brewers Guild Executive Director Nils Weldy said.

“So look for those cool beer selections being made with local fruit, vegetables, grains and hops that will be on display,” he continued. “Something a little different to look forward to.”

It runs from 2-5:30 p.m., rain or shine, and tickets are still available.
